NEW BREW: Devilfish IPA

An old Tall Tale Series favourite has made it’s infamous return…

Re-introducing our Devilfish IPA with all it’s tropical hop and smooth malt goodness. A daringly simple IPA, the Devilfish was crafted using only the essentials: special amber malt and Australian Ella hops.

ABV: 5.5%

HOPS: Ella

MALT: Special Amber

Legend has it that Cultus Lake is bottomless and connects to the ocean via underground rivers. These waterways have brought a whole new species of predators to Cultus; the Devilfish. Rumoured to be 6 feet in length with no known enemies, the Devilfish rarely reveals itself — enjoy your swim, but watch where you kick your feet.

The Devilfish’s tropical notes and smooth finish are best savoured with a spicy seafood dish. Find this 650ml bomber (available for a limited time) in your local Private Liquor Store, the Old Yale Tasting Room and on tap in your favourite restaurants and bars. Cheers, friends!

NEW BREW: Weekend Warrior Double IPA

Everybody’s working for the weekend… lucky for them, we’ve got a beer for that!

Back AGAIN by popular demand, we’re so excited to re-release one of our favourite Trailblazer Series brews, Weekend Warrior Double IPA.

A flurry of flavour, Chinook, Simcoe, Centennial and Columbus deliver that West Coast hop punch. Pine and resin are supported by a hint of tropical citrus, with a pinch of dank goodness. Hop forward all the way with a bit of malt, this is a true Weekend Warrior’s treat.

ABV: 8.0%

HOPS: Chinook, Simcoe, Centennial 

MALT: ESB, crystal

650ml bombers of our Weekend Warrior will be are available exclusively in your local BC Liquor Store. AND watch for it in draught in the
Old Yale Tasting Room and your favourite local restaurants and bars in the next few weeks….

Recipe: Boozy Burger & Fry Pies

Serves: 1

Prep time: 20 minutes

Cook time: 20 minutes

Ingredients: Pie

+ 1 lb lean ground beer or turkey

+ 1 small yellow onion, diced

+ 1 cup shredded, frozen hashbrown potatoes

+ 2 cloves garlic, minced

+ 1/4 unsalted butter

+ 1/4 cup flour

+ 1 cup Sasquatch Stout

Ingredients: Dip

+ 1 cup heavy cream

+ 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese (you can add up to 3 cups as preferrred)

+ 3 tbsp ketchup

+ 2 tbsp mustard

Directions: Dip

  1. In a saucepan over medium heat, brown meat with onions, garlic, and potatoes. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a separate pan over medium heat melt the butter. Add in the flour, stirring constantly for 2-3 minutes until the color changes to golden.
  3. Add the Sasquatch Stout and the heavy cream, again stirring constantly until mixture comes to a simmer.
  4. Remove the mixture from the burner and slowly add the cheese (you can add up to 3 cups). Whisk until you have reached the desired consistency.
  5. Add ketchup, mustard, and the meat mixture to the cheese and stir until heated through. Serve warm.

Directions: Pie

  1. Set aside and refrigerate desired amount of Cheddar Stout Dip until firm (at least 20 minutes).
  2. Preheat oven to 350° F.
  3. Roll out your prepared crust and cut into an equal number of rounds (mine were about 2 inches).
  4. Fill your mini pie rounds with approximately 2 Tablespoons of dip.
  5. Top with another pie crust round and pinch seams together with a fork. Slice a vent on the top of each mini pie and bake for 20 minutes or until golden and heated through.

Sasquatch Stout:

Sasquatch Stout from Old Yale Brewing was voted “Best Beer in Canada” for 2014! This beer is smooth with notes of mocha, coffee and roasted barley and pairs well with a steak, oysters or even chocolate cake!

The Sales Manager is responsible for coaching and managing the day-to-day activities of the entire sales team, while maintaining and growing Old Yale Brewing’s key accounts. They will also work closely with Sales Brokers within different territories to set a vision, create a plan and hold the brokers accountable for executing against that plan. They will maintain, service and strategize on the best ways to grow Old Yale Brewing’s presence within the BCLDB listings and store network. They will champion the consultative sales approach and mentor the sales team using this approach. They will be expected to keep the overall sales team’s activities running smoothly within an approved budget. He or she will be skilled in dispute resolution and has the ability to travel throughout Western Canada. The Sales Manager will also be expected to represent the company at shows, conferences and events.

We’re hiring! Tasting Room & Hospitality Manager

The Tasting Room & Hospitality Manager is responsible for promoting Old Yale Brewing to the public. They will oversee the tasting and sale of beer and non-beer products in the brewery’s lounge and retail store to maximize sales potential. The Tasting Room & Hospitality Manager will also oversee the daily operations of the tasting room, taking pride in the brand, and ensuring that the team is providing exceptional customer service and creating an innovative, educational and compelling sales experience for our customers. Additionally, the Tasting Room & Hospitality Manager will oversee the food program and food truck staff; ensuring that our food truck and food program are running efficiently, productively and are complementing our overall tasting room operation. This role also includes, from time to time, additional day-to-day duties such as serving, stocking, cleaning, inventory ordering, social media management and some sales support.

You’ll Need:  

Here’s how to craft your Amaretto Mango Sour:

Step 1: Combine 1oz Ameretto, 1oz. Lime Juice and 5oz. Phillips Ginger Ale in your 12 oz Old Yale Brewing glass.

Step 2: Top up the glass with approx. 5oz. Moon Dance Mango Wheat

Step 3: Garnish with a fresh lime twist

It’s that easy… and unbelievably tasty.

The Marketing Assistant will work both independently and with the extended Old Yale team to support the execution of all brewery related marketing activities. This role requires a high level of organization, well-developed communication skills and the ability to problem solve in a fast-paced environment.

This position will report to the Marketing Manager and will have a strong working relationship with all other brewery staff.
